The Challenge
PivotXY, an early-stage fintech AI startup, needed to transform a rough technical demo into an investor-ready product. The initial tool—Competitive Benchmarking—was built by developers to test AI feasibility, but it lacked clarity and usability. The tool analyzes company financial performance and stock prices compared to competitors, but the interface made complex data overwhelming rather than actionable. With plans to build additional AI-powered analysis tools, the company needed design leadership to create a foundation for growth.
My Role
As the founding Senior UX Designer, I led all product design for the early-stage startup. I redesigned the Competitive Benchmarking tool, designed the Valuation+ tool, and built the design foundations (design system, component library, developer handoff workflow) that didn't previously exist.

Impact
Designed the second product to expand market positioning: Created Valuation+ from concept to dev-ready. Transformed complex financial modeling (DCF, scenario analysis, peer comparisons) into an intuitive AI-powered tool that positioned the platform as a strategic decision partner, not just an analysis dashboard.
Expanded the product from one tool to three—designed Valuation+ (AI-powered company valuation analysis) to complement the existing tool and support the broader product vision
Built design infrastructure from zero: Established the company's first design system, component library, and developer handoff workflow, creating the foundation for efficient, scalable product development.
Designed for executive decision-making: Created an interface that structures complex AI-powered financial analysis for high-stakes strategic choices.
The Solution
A redesigned Competitive Benchmarking experience that makes complex financial data clear and explorable, plus a net-new Valuation+ tool that brings AI-powered scenario modeling and strategic planning to executives. Together, these position the platform as a strategic decision partner that helps leaders understand performance, model outcomes, and identify value drivers. All built on scalable design foundations ready for continued product expansion.
